If you practise cycling, running, padel or skiing and need prescription glasses, you’ve probably already run into the problem: most technical sports eyewear (Oakley, Rudy Project, Bollé, evil eye…) is sold without a prescription, with interchangeable lenses designed for athletes with normal vision. Wearing regular prescription glasses underneath, or uncomfortable prescription clip-ons, isn’t a real solution when you’re at full speed or full concentration.
The good news: you can have your own sports frame fitted with a prescription, keeping its original fit, protection and grip.
Why a sports frame is different from a regular pair of glasses
Sports glasses usually have a wraparound curve (called base 6 or 8, versus the flatter base of a regular everyday frame), designed to protect against wind, side glare and impacts. That same curve, however, distorts vision if a standard prescription lens is fitted into it — which is why many local opticians don’t offer this service, or do it with inconsistent results.
Our process fits curved-base prescription lenses with no prism effect, specifically designed not to distort peripheral vision in wraparound frames.
What you can choose depending on your sport
- Cycling and running: polarised or photochromic lenses, which adapt automatically to changing light between sun and shade on the road or trail.
- Padel and indoor court sports: lenses with reinforced anti-reflective coating, to improve contrast under artificial lighting or court glare.
- Skiing and mountains: mirrored lenses or a snow-specific tint, which reduce glare from sunlight reflecting off snow, along with full UV protection.
