Presbyopia appears around age 40: the lens of the eye loses flexibility and suddenly you need to hold your phone further away or push the restaurant menu back. Progressive lenses solve this with no bifocals or two pairs of glasses.

Progressive lenses (also called varifocal or multifocal lenses) let you see far, at mid-distance and up close with a single lens, without the visible line of bifocals. They are designed for presbyopia, the age-related loss of near focus that usually starts after 40.

Types of progressive lenses: which one to choose?
All progressive lenses have three zones: distance at the top, intermediate (computer) in the middle and near at the bottom. What changes from one range to another is the width of the corridor and the blurred areas at the sides:
- Standard: a good option if your prescription is low or it’s your first pair of progressives and you want to keep the cost down.
- Kodak Precise: a digital design with a wider intermediate zone. Recommended if you switch between screens, reading and distance during the day.
- Kodak Unique DRO: our most advanced range, with a personalised design. Less side distortion and faster adaptation, especially with strong prescriptions.

Index: how thin your lens will be
- 1.5 (standard): for low prescriptions.
- 1.6 (thin): thinner and lighter; recommended from medium prescriptions.

Progressive, bifocal or occupational lenses
Progressives are the most complete solution if you want one pair of glasses for the whole day. If you spend most of your time on screens and reading, occupational glasses give you a wider mid-distance field. And if you prefer clearly separated zones for distance and near, there are bifocal lenses. We explain it in detail in which type of lenses to choose.
How to replace your progressive lenses, step by step
- Configure your lenses online: range, index, treatments and prescription (you can upload your prescription).
- Send us your glasses in a hard case. Return shipping is free on orders over €50. Collection is free in mainland Spain and Portugal; elsewhere its cost is shown in the basket before you pay.
- An optician contacts you to take the centring measurements and confirm your details.
- We make and fit the lenses in your frame and send your glasses back. It usually takes 5 to 10 working days.

Write via WhatsAppMost users adapt within 7 to 21 days. During that period it is normal to feel a slight sensation of floating ground or distortion at the side edges when walking. These are normal symptoms while the brain learns the new visual pattern. If discomfort persists after 3-4 weeks, contact our opticians: it may be a matter of centring or corridor design.
Initial dizziness has two causes: the brain has not yet learnt which area of the lens to use for each distance (this resolves with continued use), or there is an error in the optical centring. We take pupillary measurements with digital precision before manufacturing to minimise the second problem. If it persists, we review it under warranty.
Yes, it is the main use case of our service. Many customers have had a frame that fits them perfectly for years and only need to update the prescription. We collect the glasses, manufacture the new lenses with your updated prescription, fit them with millimetric precision and return them to your home.
The difference lies in the progression corridor. A basic progressive has a narrower corridor, with more lateral blur. A high-end progressive (such as Kodak Unique HD or premium range) calculates the corridor with digital free-form technology adapted to the geometry of the eye and the user's posture: more comfort, less fatigue and faster adaptation.
