It’s common to hear at a physical optician’s that “those lenses usually can’t be made prescription” or to get a quote of €250-300 for fitting a frame you already own. That’s no coincidence: many local opticians would rather sell you prescription sunglasses from their own catalogue (with a bigger margin) than work on a frame that’s already yours. And fitting a prescription lens into a curved or wraparound sunglasses frame takes more precision than a standard flat frame, so not every optician is equipped to do it well.
How the process works with us
- You send us your frame (with a prepaid envelope, both ways).
- Our opticians inspect it: they check the curvature, the frame’s condition, and whether it can take the lens type you need.
- We cut and fit your prescription lenses, keeping the tint, colour and style your frame already had (or changing it, if you prefer).
- We send it back to you ready to go, with your exact prescription.
Which sunglasses frames are compatible?
In general, any sunglasses frame in good condition can take a prescription, including the most curved or sporty ones (with our treatment for sports glasses and wraparound frames). The brands we see most often for this service: Ray-Ban (Aviator, Wayfarer, Round Metal…), Oakley, Persol, Michael Kors, Versace and handmade designer frames.

What if I want to keep the sun effect, but with a prescription?
No problem. You can choose:
- A tint colour of your choice (grey, brown, green, gradient…), with or without a prescription.
- Polarised, to cut glare on the road or water.
- Photochromic, which darkens in the sun and lightens indoors — so you use the same frame as sunglasses and everyday prescription glasses.
